The R1 Story

R1 Dance Company is a vibrant, community-centered dance studio proudly owned and operated by Dinwiddie County locals, Sean Crutchfield and Jaycee Taylor. Built on a passion for dance and a commitment to excellence, R1 Dance Company was created to provide a positive, inspiring space where dancers of all ages and experience levels can grow, learn, and thrive. We believe every dancer deserves to feel seen, supported, and confident in the space where they train.

At R1, dancers come first. Our classes are designed to challenge and encourage dancers at every level, while fostering a positive, welcoming environment where individuality is celebrated. We focus on strong technique and intentional training, but never at the expense of joy, creativity, or belonging.

We are proud to be a place where friendships are formed, confidence is built, and dancers are empowered to grow not only as performers, but as people. Whether a dancer is here to train seriously or simply to move and express themselves, they are part of the R1 family from day one. At R1, we move together and we grow together.
